What are solar panels made of?

As mentioned in the infographic, solar panels are made of silicon and is the 2nd most abundant element on earth.

 

How much do solar panels cost?

A legitimate question that gets asked often. The answer depends on multiple factors including the panel size, inverter model and roof configuration of your home. 

 

Do solar panels work on cloudy days?

Yes, solar panels do work on cloudy days, but they work best when in full contact with the sun.

 

Do solar panels work in the rain?

Solar panels are waterproof and will work in the rain. 

 

Do solar panels work in the snow? 

Solar panels do work in the snow, but a thick blanket that covers the entire panel after a snowstorm will decrease its output.

 

 Do I need to clean my solar panels to get them to work properly?

Once installed, solar panels need almost no maintenance. Rain helps to wash the panels and you may need a soft scrub down. Once installed, solar panels will continue to work for you for over 25 years. 

 

Do solar panels work at night?

Solar panels don’t draw energy at night because they need the sun’s rays. Solar panels are not designed to store power, but with added battery storage, solar energy can be stored for power backup and high peak utility rate shaving.

 

Do solar panels work during a power outage?

Solar panels will continue to work during a power outage when it is backed with a solar battery.
