After our last update of Balboa Pavilion in Newport Beach, some of you expressed interest in our roofing updates, so we thought we’d share some more of La Rocque's completed projects. This week we’re sharing a historic home that needed a new roof in Rancho Cucamonga. If you live locally, you may already be familiar with the Christmas House Inn & Gardens located at 9240 Archibald Avenue, Rancho Cucamonga, California.

Built in 1904 by wealthy lumberman and shipwright, H.D Cousins built the home for his wife who enjoyed parties and loved entertaining. The home became a place of festivities at the turn of the century for the prominent individuals of Southern California’s high society. Because of H.D. Cousin’s background in building and construction, he wanted to leave his mark by using only beautiful redwood that adorns much of the home’s interior including the entire staircase as well as the subfloor and the whole structure.
Originally, there were 80 acres of land up until the 1970’s when it was a working ranch up until 1975. As time went by, more people, mostly couples, began asking to host weddings at The Christmas House Inn. Today, it caters to wedding parties and supplements as a bed and breakfast. With an outdoor patio area for garden weddings, complete with an outdoor shower and jacuzzi, the Southern California weather makes it popular year round.
The reroofing of Christmas House Inn & Gardens started on November 28th, 2023. Though not a complete reroof, the major area of the roof was given a facelift leaving the turret and dormer as is. This historical home redone with comp shingles by Owens Corning TrueDefinition Duration Cool Plus Mystic Gray. Check out the images of the La Rocque Team working on the roof. Knowing this was a historical landmark, our guys were great at tarping much of the outside area right under the front porch, being mindful of the intricate Queen Anne style adornments. La Rocque Better Roofs was able to complete the project on December 8th just in time for Christmas festivities!
